Thomas Schmitt (artist)
Thomas Schmitt (* 1951 in Berlin ) is a German comic artist and musician .
The son of the cartoonist Erich Schmitt studied graphics and then worked as a retoucher in East Berlin . Together with Detlef Bruno Melzer and Herbert Treichel, Schmitt founded the group MTS in 1973 , of which he is a singer and songwriter.
Together with his brother Ulrich Sturm, he created the potato-shaped comic characters " Matufflis ", which appeared in four series in the NBI between 1976 and 1988 and were also published in book form.
Schmitt has appeared on children's television as Tom's quick draftsman since 1976. At first he worked on television in the GDR a . a. in the show 1-2-3 Allerlei , later on MDR and ARD in eene meene mopel , in the ORB-Club as well as in the Kinderzeit broadcast on ORB , SFB and N3 .
