Lasse Kopitz (born May 21, 1980 in Berlin ) is a former German ice hockey player who has spent 15 seasons in the German ice hockey league . Since August 2014 Lasse Kopitz has been working as an ice hockey referee in the North Rhine-Westphalia state association.
Career
Lasse Kopitz started ice hockey at the age of three at the Berlin ice skating club , before moving to local rivals BSC Preussen as a boy player . As a junior player, the defender went to Sweden in 1997, where he was Swedish Junior Champion in his second year with Färjestad BK . In 1999 , the right-handed shooter signed his first professional contract with the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League and played most of the time with a sponsorship license with the then upper division EV Duisburg . After moving to the Revierlöwen Oberhausen , the 2001/02 season was finally the first that Kopitz was completely on the ice in the DEL. After a season with the Iserlohn Roosters , the defender decided in 2003 to move to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , where he played for two years and became a top defender in the DEL and a national player.
After the 2004/05 season Kopitz signed a contract with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , which, however, were relegated to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , so that the defender signed with the Kölner Haien until the 2006/07 season . For the 2007/08 season , the Berliner moved to league rivals Frankfurt Lions . That season he formed the second line of defense along with Jason Marshall . Kopitz scored five goals and six assists for the Hessians, in the playoffs again one template in twelve games. In the 2008/09 season Kopitz could only complete 39 main round games for the Lions because he had suffered a metacarpal fracture. Nevertheless, he scored two goals and provided eleven assists. In the pre-playoffs against the Hamburg Freezers , the defender remained pointless in five games. After another year in Frankfurt, Kopitz signed a contract with the Iserlohn Roosters for the 2010/11 season and returned to the Sauerland , where he ended his playing career in 2014 to work as a referee.
In 2006 Kopitz married his long-time girlfriend. In 2007 their daughter Danai was born.
International
With the German national team , Lasse Kopitz took part in the 2003 and 2005 World Championships and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
