Thomas Spägele

Thomas Spägele (born December 23, 1965 in Friedrichshafen ) has been Rector of the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences in Upper Swabia since September 1, 2008 .

School way

After graduating from the Graf-Zeppelin -Gymnasium in Friedrichshafen in 1985 , where he was also awarded the mathematics prize, he completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 1986 to 1992 with a specialization in technical mechanics and applied computer science .

From 1992 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Applied and Experimental Mechanics at the Faculty of Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics at the University of Stuttgart. There was carried out in 1996, the promotion of Doctor of Engineering .

career path

From 1996 to 2000 he was a calculation engineer at MTU Friedrichshafen , where he was responsible for system simulation and mechatronics . In 2000 he returned to academic teaching and was appointed professor at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg . From 2000 to 2004 he was head of the vehicle system engineering course. From 2004 to 2008 he was head of the Dual University BW responsible for the Friedrichshafen campus area. From 2006 to 2008 Deputy Director of the Cooperative State University in Ravensburg.

Thomas Spägele has been Rector of the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences since 2008 and was re-elected in 2013.
