Thomas Tudor Tucker (naval officer)

Rear Adm. Thomas Tudor Tucker C.B. (* 1775 in Tucker House , St. George’s , Bermuda ; † 1852 ) was a British naval officer. He was a nephew of the doctor and US Treasurer ( Treasurer of the United States ) Thomas Tudor Tucker , after whom he was also named.

Tucker had commanded the 18-gun sloop HMS Cherub since 1808 , which on March 28, 1814 off Valparaíso , Chile , together with the frigate HMS Phoebe under Captain James Hillyar , RN , attacked and captured the famous American frigate USS Essex under Captain David Porter .
