Thomas Wagner (moderator)

Thomas Wagner (born August 23, 1971 in Mayen ) is a German sports presenter .

Live and act

Thomas Wagner was born in Mayen and grew up in Bell (near Mendig) . As an active footballer, he became B-Youth Rhineland Champion with Spvgg Andernach in 1988 , played with the seniors in the then fourth-class association league and was appointed to the U-21 Rhineland selection.

After graduating from high school, Wagner received a two-year journalism training course at the radio station Radio Andernach, where he commented a. a. from the Winter Olympics in Albertville (1992). Via the stations RPR1 , DSF and SAT 1 he came to the television broadcaster Sky Deutschland (formerly Premiere) in 2000 and was there as a presenter, interviewer and commentator for the Bundesliga, the Champions League, the Europa League and the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and the tennis broadcasts from Wimbledon in action. He reported on the 2006 soccer World Cup and various ice hockey and handball world championships. In the summer of 2017 he switched to the RTL Group .

During the 2009 federal election campaign , he and his colleague Jan Stecker moderated the events with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU). In addition, Thomas Wagner works for companies such as Deutsche Telekom , Adidas , VW , Landrover and Nike .

Wagner has been a fan of the Hamburg sports club since childhood .
