history
Thomasroith was first mentioned in a document in 1484 with the then name "Thamansreuth".
It was not until Wolfsegg-Traunthaler Kohlenwerk AG (WTK) that the infrastructure for a town was created in Thomasroith. The WTK founded a miners' colony in Thomasroith and built the Niederstrasser horse-drawn railway from Thomasroith to Attnang in the years 1848–1850 .
At the request of the Thomasroith population, the St. Barbara Church Thomasroith was built in the years 1906–1907 . The church was largely financed by the WTK.
In 1960, the southern field tunnel was the last tunnel in Thomasroith to be opened. The underground mining in Südfeldstollen, and in Thomasroith was set 1967/1968. As a reminder of the mining tradition in Hausruck , part of the tunnel was made accessible for tours in 2004/2005.
