The Thompson Peninsula is a 5 km long peninsula in the northeast of Anvers Island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It marks the north side of the entrance to Fournier Bay .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) carried out surveys between 1955 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1959 after John Whiteside Thompson (* 1928), surveyor's assistant and climber for the FIDS at the Arthur Harbor station in 1956, which he headed in 1957.
