Torsten Lamprecht
Torsten Lamprecht , called Lampe (born September 19, 1968 - † May 11, 1992 in Magdeburg ), was a resident of Magdeburg who was killed in the course of an attack by right-wing extremist youth in the Magdeburg-Cracau district .
Life
Torsten Lamprecht was already a punk in the GDR . After graduating from school, he trained as a gardener.
killing
On May 9, 1992, 50-60 armed neo-Nazis from the Alexis Kivi youth club in Magdeburg-Nord set off with around 20 cars in the direction of the Elbterrassen restaurant in Cracau , where around 30 punks and hippies were holding a birthday party at that time .
At around 11 p.m. the police were called to a further distant street by an apparently bogus phone call because "young people were demolishing cars". A little later, the party was attacked by the neo-Nazis, who were able to gain access to the restaurant despite massive resistance, with baseball bats , steel tubes and flares. During the attack, the attackers repeatedly shouted " Heil Hitler " and "Sieg Heil".
Between 11:10 p.m. and 11:20 p.m., the police received several calls from residents who drew attention to the attack. The police forces that were then deployed neither asked for reinforcements nor intervened, but merely observed the events from a distance. Only around 11:45 p.m., when the attackers had already withdrawn and the ambulances had taken away the injured, did the police decide to intervene. They established the identity of the attacked and carried out gun controls.
The police were accused of having been near the restaurant during the approximately 30-minute attack but not intervening and allowing the perpetrators to escape.
Eight punks were admitted to hospital seriously injured as a result of the clashes. Lamprecht suffered life-threatening head injuries (open skull base fracture ) and succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Aftermath
More than 30 people were investigated and 18 charges were brought against them. In February 1995 the Magdeburg Regional Court sentenced a 24-year-old Wolfsburg resident to four years imprisonment for violating the peace in a particularly serious case involving dangerous bodily harm. Who killed Torsten Lamprecht has not yet been clarified.
The killing of Torsten Lamprecht is one of a number of right-wing extremist attacks in Magdeburg. Other events were the hunt for foreigners on May 12, 1994, the so-called Magdeburg Ascension riots , the murder of Frank Böttcher at the tram terminal in Neu Olvenstedt on February 8, 1997, further attacks on foreigners, the homeless, alleged leftists and punks as well as arson attacks, for example on alternative housing projects.
The Bündnis gegen Rechts Magdeburg regularly commemorates Torsten Lamprecht with events. The path on which the Elbterrassen restaurant was located was given the street name Torsten-Lamprecht-Weg in 2013 to commemorate those who were killed . Immediately below the street sign, a small additional sign describes what happened.
