Thorsten Müller (lawyer)

Thorsten Müller (born September 20, 1974 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German legal scholar, energy expert and founder.

Life

Thorsten Müller graduated from the High School at 1995 Johanneum Lüneburg and studied for the civil service from 1996 to 2001 at the universities of Würzburg and Salzburg Law . Following his legal clerkship from 2001 to 2003 with stations a. a. At the German University for Administrative Sciences Speyer and at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) , Müller initially worked as a project consultant for the BMU and then returned to Helmuth Schulze-Fielitz's chair for public law, environmental law and administrative sciences as a research assistant of the Law Faculty of the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg back to Würzburg.

In 2007, Müller initiated the Environmental Energy Law Research Center at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . On March 1, 2011, together with 46 other founders, he founded the Environmental Energy Law Foundation , of which he has been the scientific director and chairman ever since.

Müller is married and has three children.

Research and work focus

Thorsten Müller's research focuses on European and national law on renewable energies, energy efficiency law and the requirements for instrument groups. He teaches environmental energy law at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg .

Together with Helmuth Schulze-Fielitz and Sabine Schlacke, he is the editor of the publications on environmental energy law and co-editor of various anthologies and commentaries. From 2003 to 2018 he was co-editor and member of the editorial team of the Zeitschrift für Neues Energierecht (ZNER).

He has been invited several times as an expert to parliamentary hearings of the Bundestag and various state parliaments on various aspects of the transformation of the energy industry . In addition, at the suggestion of the then Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), he was chairman of the specialist agency onshore wind energy from 2013 to 2017.
