Tiberio Cenci

Tiberio Cenci (* 1580 in Rome ; † February 26, 1653 ibid) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church and bishop of Jesi .

Life

He was a son of the Roman nobleman Ludovico Cenci and his wife Laura Lante . Through his mother he was a nephew of Cardinal Marcello Lante , and he was an uncle of the later Cardinal Gasparo Mattei . Other cardinals from the same family were Baldassare Cenci seniore (1648–1709), Serafino Cenci (1676–1740) and Baldassare Cenci iuniore (1710–1763).

Tiberio Cenci obtained the degree of Doctor iuris utriusque . He was chamberlain to Pope Clement VIII , trainee lawyer at the courts of the Apostolic Signature and on September 21, 1602 became a canon of the Vatican Basilica . On November 24, 1621, Tiberio Cenci was elected Bishop of Jesi.

Pope Innocent X created him in the consistory of March 6, 1645 as cardinal priest under dispensation from the fact that he had an uncle in the college of cardinals . Tiberio Cenci received the cardinal's hat and the titular church of San Callisto on April 24, 1645.

He died on February 26, 1653 extra Roman Curia and was buried in the Cathedral of Jesi.
