The Tichwinka ( Russian Тихвинка ) is a right tributary of the Sjas in the Russian Oblast of Leningrad .

The Tichwinka has its origin in the small lake Jeglino on the Tichwiner ridge , a section of the Waldai heights . It flows mainly in a westerly direction. She passes the city of Tikhvin . Finally the Tichwinka flows into the Sjas.

The Tichwinka has a length of 144 kilometers. Its catchment area covers 2140 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean water flow at the lower reaches, 16 km above the mouth, is 19.7 m³ / s. The river is ice-covered between mid-November / early January to April / early May.

The course of the river Tichwinka forms part of the Tichwiner canal system that connects the Volga with the Baltic Sea .
