Ticketcorner was founded in 1987 as a marketing tool for the Swiss Bank Corporation . In 1999 Ticketcorner, Ticketline, Ticket4you and Ticketphone were merged to form Ticketcorner AG. In 2001 the company was taken over by the Swiss technology group Kudelski . With the takeover of Qivive GmbH and the establishment of Ticketcorner GmbH based in Bad Homburg, the company expanded to Germany. In 2005, the company entered the Austrian market with the establishment of the GmbH based in Vienna.

In 2006 the Kudelski Group sold the majority of the shares to a consortium consisting of the private equity company Capvis (52 percent), Ticketcorner management (10 percent) and Phonak founder Andy Rihs (10 percent). Kudelski retained a 28 percent stake in Ticketcorner. In 2008 the company entered into a strategic partnership with AG Hallenstadion in Zurich and at the same time took over 5 percent of the share capital of AG Hallenstadion. In 2009 the leisure magazine MORE was launched and the Good News Member Club was taken over.

In February 2010, the German CTS Eventim AG & Co. KGaA announced the 100% takeover of Ticketcorner Holding AG for 65 million francs. In a second, joint media release it was also announced that in future all ticketing activities will be bundled in the joint venture founded in December 2009 with the Swiss media group Ringier , in which CTS Eventim and Ringier each hold half.

Fee system

Ticketcorner has been criticized by the media several times because of its ticket fees on behalf of various larger Swiss ticketing providers . The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs announced in February 2015 that all ticketing providers must change their price disclosure practice so that all unavoidable fees are included in the ticket price from the start. Ticketcorner implemented this directive at the beginning of March 2015 and replaced the fee for print-at-home tickets and a price reduction for postage with a service fee included from the start.
