The Perleberg zoo is a Brandenburg zoo in Perleberg , Prignitz district .
history
The zoo has existed since October 7, 1964. It is located in the south of the city of Perleberg in the Vorderheide , part of the Perleberg city forest . To the north are the Perleberg cemetery and animal cemetery, to the west, across the Wilsnacker Chaussee, is the forest settlement .
Livestock
More than 400 animals live in the zoo on the 15 hectare area. These include large European predators such as brown bears , wolves and lynxes . Other large native mammals are bison , wild boar , and red deer . Fallow deer can be seen in a walk-in enclosure. The more exotic mammals include trample , guanacos , guinea pigs , kangaroos, and monkeys . There is also a petting zoo with sheep and goats . The zoo Perleberg also home to numerous species of birds, including several species of owls , parrots , pheasants , geese , emus and the endangered bald ibis .
In the Perleberg zoo, white storks from the nearby Elbe-Brandenburg river landscape biosphere reserve around the stork village of Rühstädt are also taken in. They cannot move south with them due to injuries in winter.
