Tiger House is a British thriller from 2015 .

action

The young gymnast Kelly meets her friend Mark, who comes from a wealthy family, in a forest clearing. He accidentally shoots an arrow in her leg with a crossbow .

On the eve of his 18th birthday, Kelly sneaks into Mark's room like a burglar. He tells her that his mother, Lynn, found drugs and a condom on him, so she took his cell phone and placed him under house arrest. As the young couple is about to get intimate, Lynn interrupts them. Kelly, hidden under the covers, hears Lynn insulting her as an unworthy helper, and shortly afterwards, from the attic, sees her mother searching the room. Later that night, she reveals to Mark that she is pregnant. But before the discussion can escalate, they hear noises from the ground floor. Four burglars, disguised in gas masks, have entered the house after killing the family dog.

Shane, the leader of the gang, is injured in his stomach by a large piece of glass. The others put him on Mark's bed, of all places, under which Kelly has just been hiding. Callum stays with Shane and searches the Internet for information on a pressure bandage . But when he realizes that Lynn is a doctor, he temporarily frees her so that she can take care of the injured person. When she drops an object, she sees Kelly under the bed, who wanted to get help with her cell phone, but couldn't because of the empty battery. But she remains calm and does not betray the girl.

The burglars Reg and Sveta drive with Mark's father Doug to his bank to rob it. Callum, who was recently released from prison and feels disadvantaged, is supposed to cover up his tracks in the house. Kelly manages to distract Shane and Callum with a ringing alarm clock and escape from the room. When she is about to free Mark, she sees Lynn's lover Ferdinand come into the house and get murdered by Callum, whom he saw unmasked. Callum then tortures himself on the skin with a hot knife while Kelly hides behind him in the shower.

While he then threatens Mark and approaches his mother, who is also bound, Kelly stabs him with scissors. He chases her through the house, but the girl hides again in the attic above Mark's room and barricades the trapdoor before she yells for help. However, Callum gains access with tools. Upstairs, he doesn't see Kelly and talks about how he was convicted of a child's testimony back then. Kelly escapes again into the room and locks Callum in. In the room, Shane is standing in front of her with a gun. He reveals that he euthanized Callum's father and urges her to tell a joke before letting her go.

She loosens Mark and Lynn's bonds with a shard of mirror, but as the two are about to flee, Reg and Sveta come back. They find out that there is still a girl in the house. Shane, sitting on the stairs, protects Kelly. Reg frees Callum from the attic, who now wants to take care of the hostages himself. Kelly climbs back upstairs and shoots Reg with the crossbow, but Reg still manages to set the room on fire. The girl jumps outside through a window and kills Sveta with the same arrow, with a fight in the pool. Then she puts on a coat and Sveta's mask. After discovering Doug in the car filled with money, she deceives Callum and threatens him with a gun. But then Doug knocks her down from behind with a shovel. Because he worked with the burglars. Before Callum can shoot Kelly, Shane's shot hits him from behind. Kelly points the gun at Doug when Lynn walks in from the side and shoots Doug. The two women and Mark leave the burning house.

In the end, Kelly says goodbye to her boyfriend and drives away alone with the money from the bank robbery.

reception

At Rotten Tomatoes, Tiger House receives 18% approval from viewers. Marcel Demuth writes at Filmchecker that the film “often brakes itself out in terms of voltage, because the lead actress' gripping attempts to escape are repeatedly interrupted by unnecessary dialogues between the intruders”. "Despite the claustrophobic cat and mouse game, there is a big problem [...] in the credibility of his protagonists." At Actionfreunde, Stefan Seidl praises the leading actress and also criticizes the "protagonists who are often rather unclean". The “spatially limited location” is used well.
