Tikschosero ( Russian Ти́кшозеро, Тикшеозеро Tikscheosero, Karel. Tiikšenjärvi , Finnish Tiiksjärvi ) is a lake in the Republic of Karelia in northwestern Russia .
The lake's runoff has been regulated seasonally since 1953. The water surface of the Tikschosero is 208.8 km². The total area of the lake including the islands is 232 km². The shoreline of the Tikschosero is severely cut. The lake is at an altitude of 111.2 m. Its mean water depth is 8 m, the maximum depth 40 m. The tikschosero has a length of 26.7 km and is up to 16 km wide.
There are 342 islands with a total area of 23.6 km². The largest islands are Kaigas (11.8 km²) and Kangassari (2.38 km²).
From the beginning of November until the second half of May, the lake is covered by a layer of ice.
The Tikschosero has a catchment area of 1080 km². It is traversed by the Lopskaya River and drained to the Kowdosero to the north. Immediately after leaving the Tikschosero, the Lopskaja splits into two arms, Wintscha and Pudos , which flow off into the northern Notosero .
The following fish species are found in the tikschosero: trout , whitefish , coregonus , smelt , pike , rutilus , aland , burbot , nine-spined stickleback , perch and bullhead .
