Locations

Cologne

TimeRide VR Cöln, Alter Markt 36–42

TimeRide VR Cöln is located in Cologne's old town. It offers a combination of museum , cinema and virtual tram tour in the center of Cologne including through the old town around 1909. It was opened in 2017 at Alter Markt 36–42.

At TimeRide VR Cöln, visitors pass through three stations. All three units give an impression of life in Cologne from the first decade of the 20th century. The first stop is the so-called Kaiserpanorama , where visitors get a brief introduction to the era around 1900 and can see 3D images from the imperial era compared to today's Cologne. In the second station, the Kinema , a film is shown about the history of Cologne from the Romans to the imperial era. In the third station, visitors get on an old Cologne tram from around 1901. With the help of VR glasses, they then take a virtual city tour through Cologne's old town during the imperial era. Even if the train stays in place, vibrations and an artificial airflow reinforce the impression of actually driving through Cologne city center at the beginning of the 20th century. The scenes with over 600 houses and 3000 animated figures were reconstructed with the help of historical film recordings, postcards and city maps. A tour of the stations takes about 45 minutes. In the first 14 months after opening, 150,000 guests visited the Cologne TimeRide.

Dresden

Another TimeRide opened in Dresden in 2018. The TimeRide VR Dresden is located near the Zwinger at Taschenberg 3.

The three stations in Dresden give an impression of the Baroque era . The first station is the so-called mirror cabinet . Here visitors get a brief introduction to the subject of life in the Baroque era and the wedding of the century of Friedrich August , the son of Augustus the Strong , and Maria Josepha . You can also test augmented reality technology here. One slips into the clothes of baroque figures in magical mirrors. At the second station, the Lichtspielhof, visitors receive information on court life such as food, travel, dance and music in short film sequences. The third station is the Virtual Reality (VR) Experience. The year 1719 is displayed using a VR headset. The VR ride goes in a golden carriage from the Wilsdruffer suburb to the pompous Zwinger.

Nanchang

Another TimeRide was opened in 2018 in Nanchang , China .
