Bakken, who competes for Konnerud IL, has mainly participated in the Scandinavian Cup since 2007 . He took his first and so far only victory in Nes in January 2012. He ran his first of 14 World Cup races in March 2008 in Drammen , which he finished in 53rd place in the sprint. At the Junior World Championships in 2009 he won silver in the sprint. In March 2009 he got his first World Cup points in Trondheim with the 14th place in the sprint. At the U23 World Championships in 2011 in Otepää , he won silver in the sprint behind Alexander Panschinski . At the beginning of the 2014/15 season in Ruka , he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup with ninth place in the sprint. In January 2015 he was the Norwegian sprint champion in Røros . The following month he reached his podium in the World Cup with third place in the sprint in Östersund .
