Timotheos (Latin Timotheus ) is a masculine Greek given name. Name day is August 22nd .

Origin and meaning

The name comes from the Greek : ancient Greek Τιμόθεος , from τιμάω timáo , German 'appreciate, honor' and θεός theós , German 'God' . It means "who honors God". The German names " Ehregott " and " Fürchtegott " are derived from this as an expression of the fear of God .
