Timotheus Lütkemann

Timotheus Lütkemann (* 1671 in Malchin , Mecklenburg ; † October 15, 1738 in Stralsund ) was a Lutheran theologian and general superintendent of the Pomeranian regional church in Swedish Pomerania .

Live and act

Timotheus Lütkemann was born as the son of the provost Samuel Lütkemann. In November 1688 he enrolled to study at the University of Rostock . In 1694 he received his master's degree in Greifswald and in 1699 came to his hometown Malchin as a preacher.

A year later he became pastor in Tönning and in 1703 Holstein-Gottorfischer court preacher.

In 1706 he moved to the German Church in Stockholm as the second preacher , where he rose to senior pastor in 1710 . In 1725 he received his doctorate in theology at Uppsala University and in 1731 was a Swedish court preacher.

In 1734 he was appointed General Superintendent of Western Pomerania in Greifswald, succeeding Albrecht Joachim von Krakevitz . After a term of only four years in office, Lütkemann died in Stralsund, where he had traveled to introduce Wilhelm Löper to his post as city superintendent of Stralsund. Michael Christian Rusmeyer was his successor .

Timotheus Lütkemann was married to Ida Augusta Wedderkopp, a daughter of the Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and Baroque author Gabriel Wedderkop . Her children included:

In addition, Timotheus Lütkemann was the great-nephew of the Rostock professor of physics and metaphysics Joachim Lütkemann (1606–1655).
