Joseph E. Drexel Foundation

The Joseph E. Drexel Foundation was established in 1956 on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the publisher of the Nürnberger Nachrichten , Joseph E. Drexel . It awarded the Joseph E. Drexel Prize in the field of press and journalism.

Purpose of the foundation

According to its statutes, its purpose was to award "outstanding work in the field of press in the broadest sense" with the Joseph E. Drexel Prize . The foundation counts the entire area of journalism , picture reporting, artistic, photographic and typographic design of a publication organ in the press .

The Joseph E. Drexel Prize was awarded by the Foundation's Board of Trustees. In 1966 it included:

When awarding the prizes, the board of trustees should disregard the ideological or political location of the person concerned. Only performance aspects should decide for the judgment. This particularly included "the precision of a statement, its intellectual foundation and the intellectual incorruptibility expressed in it".
