Erich Helmensdorfer

Erich Helmensdorfer (born May 28, 1920 in Nuremberg ; † April 28, 2017 in Vienna ) was a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

After graduating from high school, Helmensdorfer did military service from 1938 to 1945 and then military service in World War II . From 1946 to 1947 he studied law at the University of Erlangen , but dropped out without a degree. From 1947 to 1960 he worked for the DENA news agency and from 1949 to 1956 for dpa in Nuremberg, Bonn , Berlin and Munich . In 1956 he went to Egypt and was the DPA's foreign correspondent in Cairo until 1960 . From 1961 to 1963 Helmensdorfer worked as head of the newspaper Die Presse in Vienna and editor-in-chief of the Münchner Abendzeitung . From 1963 to 1968 he worked as a freelancer for ARD and ZDF .

Helmensdorfer became known mainly through the television quiz show Alles oder alles , which he moderated from 1967 to 1972 over 61 episodes. In 1968 he became the founding editor of the Munich tabloid tz . In 1972/73 he moderated the quiz duck good - all good . He also took part in the 1971 feature film Glückspilze . He was also the presenter of the ZDF news program today . From March 1, 1976 to June 30, 1986 Helmensdorfer was head of the Rhein-Main editorial team at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung .

Erich Helmensdorfer has written several books about Egypt and golf . He died at the age of 96 in Vienna, his adopted home .
