Helmut Lindemann

Helmut Lindemann (born December 10, 1912 in Kiel , † September 22, 1998 in Lindau ) was a German lawyer , publicist , translator and writer .

Life

Lindemann was the son of Paul Lindemann ( lawyer , 1912-1919 Lord Mayor of Kiel) and Margarete Lindemann, b. Abshagen. He attended the Matthias-Claudius-Gymnasium in Hamburg . After graduating from high school, Lindemann studied law at the Universities of Kiel , Hamburg , Exeter and Berlin . In 1936 he received his doctorate from the University of Berlin. jur. From 1938 to 1945 Lindemann was a foreign correspondent in London , Amsterdam , Athens and Stockholm . From 1945 to 1948 he was a founding member of the Protestant Research Academy . Lindemann was a co-founder of the Christophorus-Stift / study group of the EKD . From 1948 he worked as a publicist, translator and writer.

From September 1961 to summer 1962 he was briefly headmaster of the humanistic Black Forest boarding school Birklehof on the initiative of Georg Picht . The attempt failed due to resistance from teachers, students and parents.

Since the 1950s, Lindemann has been present in national magazines and newspapers such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and ZEIT as well as in the local media. He commented on educational and political issues. He commented on the Bavarian Broadcasting , North German Broadcasting and West German Broadcasting . He also worked as a translator, from English and French .

In 2001, Lindemann's family gave his estate to the Institute for Newspaper Research in Dortmund .

Lindemann was of Protestant faith. He had been with Cornelie Lindemann, born in 1940. Volkmann († 1992) married and had six children with her: Thomas, Barbarah, Hartwig, Constanze, Dorothee and Florian Lindemann .
