Coordinates: 62 ° 29 ′ N , 17 ° 20 ′ E Timrå is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län and the historic province of Medelpad . The main town of the municipality is Timrå .
Other localities are Bergeforsen , Stavreviken , Söråker u. a. m. The European road E04 runs through the municipality .
geography
The municipality extends 25 kilometers along the Baltic Sea coast and 40 kilometers inland.
economy
Pulp and paper industries are traditional industries in the community and have a dominant position. Midlanda Airport, northeast of the capital, is also an important employer.
Attractions
At Bergeforsen a few kilometers northeast of Timrå there is a large hydroelectric power station . There is a museum by the power station, Älvens hus . A little further downstream is one of the largest salmon farms in Europe. The facility and the aquarium are open to visitors in summer.
Lögdö bruk , about 7 kilometers northeast of Timrå near Stavreviken, is an old ironworks that was founded in the 17th century and closed in the 19th century.
