Tinatin Assatiani

Tinatin Assatiani (also Tina Levanowna Assatiani , Georgian თინათინ ასათიანი , Russian Асатиани, Тина Левановна ; born March 12, 1918 in Tbilisi ; † July 20, 2011 in Yerevan , Armenia ) was a Georgian - Soviet physicist and university professor . She was an expert in cosmic rays and high energy physics and was admitted to the Armenian National Academy of Sciences in 1991.

Life

Assatiani graduated from Tbilisi State University with a degree in physics in 1940 . In 1942 she and Artem Alichanjan investigated cosmic rays in the observation station on Mount Aragaz and from 1943 worked as a laboratory manager at the Physics Institute Yerevan (YerPhI). Again with Alikhanian she was at the electron synchrotron ARUS operates. Assatiani became a professor of high energy physics at the Yerevan State University in 1968 . Three years later she received her doctorate in physics and mathematics and was given a full professorship in 1974. She has published more than 200 articles in international journals.

The Armenian National Academy of Sciences appointed Tinatin Assatiani as a corresponding member in 1991 and a full member in 1996.

Assatiani married the physicist and university professor Assaluis Tigranowitsch Dadajan. The couple had two daughters.

Awards (selection)

For their developments in the field of spark chambers and particle detectors , Assatiani was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1970 together with Artem Alichanjan .
