Tini Tüllmann (* 1977 in Munich ) is a German director .

Life

Tini Tüllmann was born in Munich in 1977. In 1997 she attended the Athanor Academy for Performing Arts in Burghausen for one year and then switched via the London Film School to the Art Academy for Media Cologne (KHM) , where she studied directing until 2003 and graduated with a diploma.

In 2003, right after graduating from the KHM, she moved to Berlin to work as assistant director or sound assistant on numerous films by well-known directors such as Hans Weingartner, Lars Kraume, Matthias Glasner and Rudolf Thomé. During this time she had enough opportunities to learn from their projects and visions.

At the same time she worked for many years as a caster for commercials.

Her directorial work during her student days included Taxi , an episode of the 2002 omnibus film Friday Night (a KHM production in cooperation with WDR), which was awarded gold at the Munich International Film Schools Festival .

For the Alfa-Telefon of the Federal Association of Literacy and Basic Education , she initiated and shot the filmic commercial back glasses in 2011 .

In 2015 she shot her first full-length feature film Freddy / Eddy , for which she also wrote the screenplay.

The psychological thriller, completed in 2016, was premiered at the 50th Hof International Film Festival. Tüllmann was presented with the first Heinz bathing joke for the best young director by Wim Wenders. National and international awards followed.

Among other things, the Lüdia des Kinofest Lünen in 2016 , the best director and best production at the Achtung Berlin new film award in 2017, best feature film at the Snowdance Independent Film Festival under the direction of festival director Heiner Lauterbach and the audience award at the Rügen International Film Festival.

Internationally, it was honored as best film in the "Dark Matters" category at the Austin Film Festival in 2017, and Tüllmann received the award for best director at the Baltics Debut Film Festival in Svetlogorsk, Russia.

Furthermore, the film was shown nationally and internationally at various festivals and was nominated.

Despite these numerous awards, nominations and largely excellent reviews, Tüllmann could not find a distributor who wanted to bring the film to the cinema. So she founded a film distribution company under the name “Filmlawine”, which her production company already carries. With the help of Schmidbauer Film, who took over the booking and billing, she brought the film to the cinema on February 1, 2018 in self-distribution.

In April 2018 Tüllmann was nominated for the Bunte New Faces Award with the film Freddy / Eddy .

Your film Freddy / Eddy was awarded the title Valuable by the Filmbewertungsstelle .
