Worth seeing

  • Museo Arqueológico “Dr. Guillermo Rafael Alanis ” . The museum was created on the basis of the collection of Dr. Alanis, who for many years toured the Antofagasta de la Sierra and Belén area. The skulls and bones come from Antofagasta de la Sierra and the coin collection from Belén. Different cultures lived in this area: the Belén, Ciénaga, Aguada and others. In the museum, graves from Troya and Campo del Mortero and ceramics from the Diaguita can be admired.
  • Museo Arqueológico Municipal “Tulio Robaudi” . Originally a private museum owned by the Robaudi couple, who donated it to the community. One room only contains found objects from the founders. The Diaguita exhibits deserve special mention, including those with strong influences from the Aguada culture. A mummified body (around 1300), ceramics from the Ciénaga culture and pipes for inhaling hallucinogens can also be seen. The museum displays skulls from adults of both sexes. Vessels from the Inca period (1400–1530) and the time of the Condorhuasi (350 BC) are on display. The museum is archaeologically managed by the University of La Plata .
