The Tirad Pass National Park is located on the island of Luzon , Philippines . It was established in 1968 on an area of ​​74.16 km² in the province of Ilocos Sur in the municipality of Gregorio del Pilar . It was named after the Tirad Pass, where the Filipino national hero Gregorio del Pilar was killed in a battle with the American invaders in the Philippine-American War in 1899. A National Shrine was built in his honor as early as 1938.

The national park is about 80 km south of Vigan City in the westernmost mountain range of the Cordillera Central . The national memorial was erected below Mount Tirad. South of the national park is the Bessang Pass Natural Monument .
