- The church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos (1708/1727) was built by slaves. On the side altars there are images of African deities from Candomblé in syncretism .
- The church Nossa Senhora das Mercês dos Pretos Crioulos from the 18th century (exact date unknown) was the ancestral church of the "Crioulos", the mulattos, and was also built by a corresponding brotherhood, the "Irmandade dos Homens Pardos". Among other things, it contains an interesting altar in the Rococo style.
- The old Chafariz de São José fountain from 1749, with three gargoyles and a terracotta sculpture of the “São José de Botas”, supplies water from a stone aqueduct that is fed by springs in the Serra de São José that surrounds the city.
