The Szczecin FC Titania was a Szczecin football club .
history
The association was founded on July 12, 1902. In 1903 there was a merger with the Stettiner FV Urania to form the Stettiner FV Urania / Titania . However, this merger only lasted a few months and both clubs dissolved the merger.
The club rose to the undisputed number one athletic in the city at an early stage. In 1920 he became the first ever Stettin club to become a Baltic champion through victories against VfB Danzig (1-0) and SV Prussia-Samland Königsberg (2-1). This could almost have been repeated in 1922, but after many protests the title went to local rivals Stettiner SC .
Titania, also known as the "Löwen von Zabelsdorf" , played her home games either on the self-constructed sports field Deutscher Berg (2,500 seats) or on the Richard Lindemann sports field (16,000 seats).
In the final round of the German championship, the Titania was regularly overwhelmed; in seven final round games she came only to one victory. This was achieved in 1920 after an impressive fighting performance against SV Arminia Hannover . Titania won here sensationally 2-1 after extra time against the highly favored Hanoverians.
Much more often, however, the Titania was hopelessly inferior in their final rounds, as in the 1: 9 against Holstein Kiel on May 8, 1927.
Only two years later, however, another sensation was in the air against Tennis Borussia Berlin . Georg Freitag and Jähnke had made a 2: 2 break from a 2-0 break, but lost 2: 3 in extra time.
In the period that followed, the Titania fell more and more behind compared to the other Szczecin clubs. With great financial commitment, attempts were made to counteract what led to the bankruptcy of Titania Stettin in 1930. After the bankruptcy, the remaining members then joined VfL Stettin and Titania disappeared from the scene.
