Titus Spree

Titus Spree ( Japaneseス プ リ ー テ ィ ト ゥ ス, Supurii Titusu; * 1966 in Ulm ) is a German artist , curator and urbanist . Since 2001 he has held a position as Associate Professor at the University of the Ryukyus , Okinawa .

biography

As a child of filmmakers Lothar Spree and Recha Jungmann , Spree spent his childhood a. a. in Canada and Jamaica , before studying design in Italy and graduating in architecture from the Berlin University of the Arts in 1994 . From 1995 to 2001 he was a research student and doctoral student at the University of Tokyo under Hidetoshi Ono. Since 2001 he has been teaching at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa.

Projects (selection)

Spree's projects are often in the fields of art , architecture , urban planning and research, public space , design and education . In addition to his own artwork and design work, he was involved in the founding and conceptualization of art spaces, alternative schools, art festivals and numerous exhibitions.
