The Toba River is a 67 km long river in the Qathet Regional District in British Columbia , Canada .

The Toba River is fed by the Toba Glacier at an altitude of 1000  m . It flows through the Pacific Ranges , part of the southern Coast Mountains , initially 10 km in a southerly direction. He takes on the water of the left tributaries Dalgleish Creek and East Toba River . Then he turns towards the south-southwest. The Jimmie Creek and the Racoon Creek meet also on the left side of the river. This gradually turns towards the west-southwest. In the lower reaches of the Filer Creek flow from the right, the Little Toba River from the left and finally the Klite River from the right into the Toba River, before it reaches the head of Toba Inlet .

Use of hydropower

In the river system of the Toba River there are several run-of-river power plants , which are supplied with the water of several tributaries of the Toba River via above-ground pipelines. The rivers are East Toba River and Jimmie Creek, and Montrose Creek , a left tributary of Filer Creek . The operator of the power plants is Alterra Power , a subsidiary of Innergex Renewable Energy since the beginning of 2018 , and the GE subsidiary "GE Energy Financial Services". Further power plants are being planned. The Montrose Creek power plant generates 710 to 730 GWh of electricity for BC Hydro annually .
