Tobias Kracker

Tobias Kracker (* 1658 ; † 1736 probably in Vienna ) was a German sculptor and painter .

Tobias Kracker came from a family of artists who worked in Vienna during the 17th century and later throughout the entire Habsburg monarchy . He learned from his father of the same name (Tobias Kracker the Elder, † after 1691), from whom works ( portal figures and altars ) for the Vienna Schottenstift have been handed down and whose pupils included Balthasar Permoser , who joined himself in the 1670s stayed in Vienna until 1675.

Tobias Kracker d. J. worked together with Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and Paul Strudel on the work on the Vienna plague column . Furthermore, Tobias d. J. Models for the magnificent coffins of Emperors Leopold I and Joseph I for the Vienna Capuchin Crypt .
