Tobias Luthe

Tobias Luthe (* 1975 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German sustainability researcher and scientist for systemic design, environmental engineering and landscape planning at the ETH Zurich .

Life

Luthe did his Abitur at the Zeppelin-Gymnasium in Lüdenscheid. In 1999 he completed a bachelor's degree in forest sciences at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . There followed a master’s degree, which he completed in 2001. He completed another master's degree in sustainable development at the University of Rostock . In 2009 he did his doctorate at the German Sport University Cologne, second report from the University of Zurich , on the vulnerability of alpine tourism to climate change .

From 2011 to 2018, Luthe held a professorship in sustainability science at the HTW Chur . He has been with ETH Zurich since 2018 . He also teaches at the Università della Svizzera italiana and the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.

Luthe applies knowledge of socio-ecological systems and their resilience to tourism .

He has also been working as a mountain guide since 1998 and was also a full-time environmental consultant for the German Ski Association from 2003 to 2008 .
