Tok Tok Tok (also tok tok tok was written) a Acoustic- Soul - band from Germany . The singer Tokunbo Akinro (lyrics) and the saxophonist and drummer Morten Klein (composition and arrangement) were the heads of the band, which worked with alternating musicians. Tok Tok Tok should not be confused with the Berlin band Toktok .

history

Tokunbo Akinro is the daughter of a German and a Nigerian . She spent her early childhood in Nigeria. She returned to Germany at the age of ten.

Morten Klein is the son of a Danish woman , his father is from Berlin . Danish was his first language.

Tok Tok Tok began in 1998 as a trio ( vocals , tenor saxophone , double bass ) with Frank Fiedler (later also Olaf Casimir) on the double bass. In 1999 the Fender Rhodes was integrated selectively ; it soon became a trademark , alongside Morten Klein's mouth drumming (acoustic beat box). Initially only known in northern Germany, Tok Tok Tok expanded their concert activities to all of Germany in 2000. With the release of the album About , the band is a popular festival guest worldwide from Paris, Madrid, Kiev, Warsaw, Milan, Sofia, Vienna, Bratislava to Tallinn, The Hague, Tel Aviv and São Paulo in Brazil.

Because mouth drumming became more and more important over time, Morten Klein decided in 2006 to integrate a real drum kit . That way he could concentrate on the tenor saxophone again. After six albums without drums, In 2006, From Soul to Soul, the first CD with Matthias Meusel on drums was released.

The Icelandic Hrólfur Vagnsson recorded all albums up to 2006. Since Reach Out… and Sway Your Booty (live 2007), Tok Tok Tok has been working with Oliver Noack and Frank Schmidt - including their release for the 10th anniversary of Tok Tok Tok She and He (2008, Universal Music ).

Tok Tok Tok has released twelve studio albums, two live albums, one live DVD and one best-of album in 15 years. On their 2010 release, Revolution 69, Tokunbo Akinro and Morten Klein and their fellow musicians banned their own Beatles adaptations for the 50th anniversary of the Beatles. With what does that mean? their only German-language album was released in November 2011. Morten Klein appears here for the first time as a lyricist for his compositions. Tokunbo Akinro, in turn, set her own lyrics to music.

The better comprehensibility in the German-speaking area is accompanied by a clear movement towards critical and political debate. In September 2012 Tok Tok Tok released a live recording of their one-time Gershwinkon concert with the NDR Pops Orchestra from 2007 with soul arrangements by Morten Klein and Hollywood sounds by Enrique Ugarte .

Before Tok Tok Tok broke up in March 2013, the musicians said goodbye with a goodbye tour. Their last concert took place on March 17th, 2013 in Neumünster near the Danish border.

Her biggest hits include You Drive Me Crazy, Don't Go Away, It Took So Long, Oh Lord, Our Little Song, Schokolade, and Die Dingeversucherin.
