Tolliella fulguritella is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 17 to 24 millimeters. The head and forehead ( frons ) shine ocher brown, the antennae are white. Thorax and tegulae have a dark brown sheen. The forewings are dark black-brown and have a white basal line. The wing drawing includes three white bands with irregular and serrated edges. The first one is located at 1/5 of the front wing length and runs from the Costa loader slightly inclined inwards to beyond the anal fold out. The second is in the middle of the wing and runs slightly diagonally from the Costa loader to the interior corner . The third is 5/6 of the fore wing length. The two outer bands are zigzag shaped. The fringed scales are brown. The hind wings shine brown and have ocher-colored fringed scales. The first three segments of the abdomen are yellowish, the remaining segments have a brown sheen.

In the males, the right brachium is long and strong and more than three times as long as the left. It is narrow in the middle and apically hook-shaped. The left brachium is triangular and has a pointed apex. The blades are long and slightly lobed. The right valvella is triangular and tapers to a point. The left valvella is short and has two very long bristles. The aedeagus is bottle-shaped. The cecum penis is large and cylindrical, the distal part is narrow, hairy and widens towards the apex.

In females, the apophyses posteriores are slightly longer than the apophyses anteriores. The ostium is oval, the sterigma is funnel-shaped. The ductus bursae is membranous and slightly shorter than the corpus bursae . The corpus bursae is egg-shaped, the seminal duct begins in the posterior part. Signa do not exist.

Similar species

Tolliella fulguritella is similar to Eteobalea tririvella and Hodgesiella rebeli , but has a much larger wingspan. In contrast to E. tririvella, Tolliella fulguritella has a brown head, pure white bands on the forewings and the white spot on the forewings is missing. Tolliella truncatula was described as a new species from China in 2009 , until then the genus Tolliella was considered monotypical . The new species is similar to T. fulguritella , but differs from it in the lack of the short white line on the base of the forewing. In front of the apex, however, there is a large white costal spot.

distribution

Tolliella fulguritella is common in Asia Minor and the Middle East ( Turkey , Lebanon , Syria , Jordan , Iraq ).

biology

The biology of the species is unknown. Butterflies were collected in July.
