Tom Redecker

Tom Redecker , also The Perc , (born August 28, 1958 in Letmathe , now the city of Iserlohn ) is a German musician , music producer and operates a. a. the music label Sireena Records .

Life

Since 1983 he has been active in the German independent music scene under the pseudonym "The Perc". Under this name he had recorded tapes at home and distributed them under the Shack Music label to the then important German cassette scene. The project Kühe im Nebel was also live and met Emilio Winschetti, singer of the NDW band Mythen in Tüten . Both merged in 1987 to form The Perc Meets the Hidden Gentleman and achieved considerable notoriety.

In 1996 he co-founded the musician collective The Electric Family , which included musicians from various formations such as Die Ärzte , Phillip Boas Voodooclub, Agitation Free , Grobschnitt , Lolitas , Thirsty Moon and Ulla Meinecke . Since 1995 he has worked with Volker Kahrs († 2008) in the electronic music project Taras Bulba .

In 2000, Tom Redecker and Lothar Gärtner founded the label Sireena Records , which mainly focuses on re-releases on vinyl, CD and DVD. Redecker also operates the two labels Tribal Stomp and T-Rave Records, which are more dedicated to releasing new productions. Since 2005, Redecker has published his private archive analysis “The Electric Kindergarten” in an irregularly published CD series.

In 2012 he performed as a retrograav with the guitarist Peter Apel and the filmmaker Stefan Malschofsky . His next project, which he initiated with the dissident drummer Marlon Klein as well as Alpha Halley, Jochen Schoberth and Harry Payuta, was called Sun Temple Circus . Redecker went on tour with this in 2014. In 2017 he released another solo album ( Koto Funk ) and the Electric Family’s first studio album after 10 years.

Redecker lives with his family near Bremen.
