Tom Sawyer's Adventure ( Japanese ト ム ・ ソ ー ヤ ー の 冒 険 , Tomu Sōyā no Bōken ) is an anime television series by Nippon Animation from 1980. It is based on the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain and is part of the World Masterpiece Theater series .
content
Tom Sawyer lived with his half-brother Sid with his aunt Polly on the Mississippi River in the late 19th century . His best friend is Huckleberry Finn, a half-orphan whose father doesn't take care of him and who can do whatever he wants all day. They experience many adventures together, such as driving across the Mississippi, diving and playing pirates, or playing pranks on others. This often puts them in danger and worries their loved ones. More serious topics such as the early death of parents or slavery do occur, but do not determine the plot as much as in the novel.
