Tom Von Ruden

Tom Von Ruden (actually Thomas Frederick Von Ruden; born August 22, 1944 in Coeur d'Alene , Idaho ; † May 17, 2018 ) was an American middle -distance runner who specialized in the 1,500-meter distance .

1967 was his most successful year: while he was only second behind Arnd Krüger in the sprint at the California championships over the mile , he then won the American championships in Bakersfield, then he won the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg and the continental war between America and Europe. In 1968 he finished ninth at the Olympic Games in Mexico City .

In 1968 and 1971 he was US indoor champion over 1000 yards , and in 1965 he was starting NCAA indoor champion over 880 yards for Oklahoma State University .
