history

The club was founded on September 7, 1914, but only became known in mid-2000 through investments by the Brazil Soccer company . Since then, the club has made various improvements to its infrastructure, has several teams in different age groups and takes part in the league operations in Minas Gerais.

In Germany, FC Tombense became known through the transfer from Cícero Santos to Hertha BSC . Also Bamba Anderson , who now plays for Eintracht Frankfurt, had a contract with FC Tombense.

In Brazil, Tombense is better known as the home club of goalkeeper Bruno , who, after moving to Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in 2009, is suspected of murdering an acquaintance. Jônatas Domingos , who meanwhile also played for RCD Espanyol in Barcelona, won several titles with Flamengo in the second half of the 2010s. In 2006 he was allowed to sit on the bench for the national team.

In 2014 they qualified for the Série D (4th Brazilian league) via the state championship in Minas Gerais and won it straight away. Tombense has been playing in the Série C since 2015 .
