Cícero Santos (also Cícero , born August 26, 1984 in Castelo , Espírito Santo state ) is a Brazilian football player . He plays in attacking midfield.

Career

Cícero began his career in the youth of EC Bahia and then played for Figueirense FC before moving to FC Tombense in 2006 and from there to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . With Figueirense he won the championship of the state of Santa Catarina in 2006 (national championship of Santa Catarina ), with Fluminense in 2007 the Brazilian Cup (in the final against Figueirense), with which the team qualified for the Copa Libertadores . With Fluminense, Cícero moved into the final of the Copa Libertadores 2008 . He was used in both finals. In the decisive penalty shoot-out , in which Fluminense lost to LDU Quito , he was the only player on his team who could convert a penalty .

In July 2008 he switched to Hertha BSC on loan for two years , which also acquired a purchase option. However, Hertha did not make use of this option, so that it was loaned out to VfL Wolfsburg for a year, again with a purchase option . So he followed his Berlin teammate Arne Friedrich , who had also moved to Wolfsburg . The association did not use the purchase option contained in the contract, which expired on May 31, 2011. In July 2011 Cícero was loaned to São Paulo FC , with whom he signed a two-year contract. In 2013 it was loaned to FC Santos until 2014 .

In mid-2017, Fluminense took Cícero back under contract. He played for the club in the Series A . In 2015 he was loaned to al-Gharafa in Qatar for a few months . At Fluminense he became the core force in midfield. At the beginning of 2017 he was loaned to São Paulo FC. There he lost his place in the team after ten missions and was no longer considered. Grêmio Porto Alegre signed him in October 2017 . After two years and with the most important victory in South American football, the Copa Libertadores 2017 , Santos left the club in February 2019. He signed a new contract with Botafogo FR .

Due to his good performance in the Bundesliga , he was invited to a game of the national team in 2010 , but was not used.
