Thommie Bayer

Thommie Bayer (born April 22, 1953 in Esslingen am Neckar ; real name Thomas Bayer-Heer ) is a German writer , musician and painter .

Life

The son of a teacher attended schools in Stuttgart and Tübingen from 1960 to 1971 and obtained his secondary school leaving certificate . From 1972 to 1978 studied it free painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with Rudolf Haegele and exhibited his works. From 1974 he was a songwriter , first in the duo Thommie and Tomaske , then alone, finally with his own band - the Thommie Bayer Band - often with his friends Thomas C. Breuer or Bernhard Lassahn as guests on the stage. In 1979 the Thommie Bayer Band had their greatest success with the song “The Last Cowboy”. In the 1980s he concentrated on writing, but also had other successes with his band. B. "Everything is regulated" and "Rita". Bayer achieved considerable success in the book market with his novels , mostly with a melancholy tone, but also telling catchy and humorous stories about members of his generation. His main work is the 1991 novel “The heart is a lousy area”. He also writes scripts for movies and television productions such as Andrea and Marie (1998) as well as sketches and glosses for various radio stations and continues to paint pictures. He is also a member of the PEN Center Germany . Today Bayer lives with his wife in Staufen im Breisgau .

Thommie Bayer received the Squidward Troll Prize in 1992 .
