Tomomi Kahala
Tomomi Kahala , even Kahara ( Jap. 華原朋美 , Kahara Tomomi * 17th August 1974 in Kōtō , Tokyo , Japan ) is a J-pop singer and musical - Actress . She became famous through her work with Tetsuya Komuro , who brought her great success as a producer in the 1990s. Tomomi Kahara caused a sensation when she separated from the producer after years of profitable collaboration. With the release of their first album, One Fine Day, without its influences, their sales dropped rapidly. After a long wave of illness, she was released from her label on June 29, 2007.
Musical career
Career
While working with Tetsuya Komuro , her first single, Keep Yourself Alive, was released in late 1995 and reached position 8 on the charts with over 360,000 sales. Her second single I Believe was her first million dollar hit and brought her into the public eye. In March 1996, their single I'm Proud reached number 2 in the charts and became their best-selling single. In June 1996 she finally released her first album Love Brace , which sold a total of over 2.5 million times.
In the following years, Tomomi Kahara released many singles that immediately reached the top of the Oricon charts . Her second album Storytelling was released on December 1, 1997 and, like its predecessor, was number 1 in the charts with only 1.3 million sales, much less than her first album brought in.
Decline
Since the release of her second album Storytelling , her popularity began to decline and her relationship with her producer Tetsuya Komuro continued to weaken. Her next single, tumblin dice , only made it into the top 20 and her musical works never made it back to the top of the charts. Her subsequent album nine cubes only sold an oppressive 261,000 times and was therefore in no way compared to her previous studio albums.
The termination of work with Tetsuya Komuro put Tomomi Kahara in a bad light among Japanese consumers due to the scandals and suicide threats that followed. She left her record company, which then released a best-of album from her, which reached number 1 in the charts with 600,000 units sold. At that time, Ami Suzuki was increasingly being marketed in the media as Tomomi Kahara's successor.
After a period of rest, Tomomi Kahara resumed her activities in the music business and worked on her comeback under Warner Music .
comeback
After separating from her manager Tetsuya Komuro, she recorded new songs with the internationally successful producer Andy Marvel. The albums One Fine Day and Love Again came out of this collaboration .
In 2004 she was signed by Universal Music , where she re-recorded a few of her most successful hits and also covered songs by international artists such as Michael Jackson . Her best-selling album during this period went just over 50,000 and her last album, Naked , only sold about 12,000 times. Despite the low sales, she continued to appear in the Japanese media.
After years of average fame, Tomomi Kahara stepped into the limelight again in 2006 when she launched a new photobook. Under the name Crystallize II , it came onto the market with 2 strawberry condoms and sold unexpectedly well. She became one of the leading artists on the Japanese Sound of Music DVD and recorded a theme song for the drama NHK Taiga .
Tomomi Kahara was fired from her agency on June 29, 2007 because repeated private problems prevented her from being professional. Since then she has not released any further records.
