Tonino Tesei

Tonino Tesei (born May 12, 1961 in Pollenza ) is an Italian composer .

Tesei studied piano , composition and electro-acoustic music at the Conservatory of Pesaro and completed his training at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Aurelio Samorì and Franco Donatoni . He then taught at the Conservatories of Pesaro, Bari , Trento and Fermo . For his works he received a. a. Awards at the International Composers' Competitions in Budapest in 1989 and 1990 , at the International Piano Composition Competition in Beijing in 1995 and at the Alea III Composition Competition in Boston in 2000 .

His Preludi Ostinati for piano (recorded by Fausto Bongelli ) became famous, and he also wrote works for guitar and saxophone ( Gesta ). The double bass player Stefano Scodanibbio played Des pas dans la nuit .
