Tonspuren is the title of an Austrian radio series on ORF Radio Austria 1 (Ö1). It was launched in December 1987 under the title Tonspuren - Hörbilder zur Literatur and has been running since 2012 as Tonspuren - Das Literaturfeature (program length: 39 minutes). In addition to the audio images, the second weekly feature broadcast by Ö1, the soundtracks are the only independent literary feature series in the world.

The audio tracks deliver “literature from a different perspective, presented with the acoustic means that radio has to offer. Formally well trained, sometimes profound, often with indirect access, ”says Alfred Koch, producer of the audio tracks . “Literature in the context of the conditions in which it was created is just as important to us as finely crafted literary portraits from A for Aichinger to Z for Zoderer . Portraits, want to always be a little bit different than those biographies that 'start all over again and stop back'. "Topics range from Franz Kafka's last days in a sanatorium on Thomas Bernhard's neighbors in Ohlsdorf and the last flight of Antoine de Saint-Exupery to on Raymond Carver's life from the perspective of his two wives. In the 25 years of its existence, the series has portrayed more than 600 authors and won numerous national and international prizes and awards.

From 1987 to 1995 Peter Klein was responsible for the audio tracks . Alfred Koch, who has been the publisher of Tonspuren since 1995 , was born in Graz in 1957, worked for the Ö3 Musicbox , and later for the Ö1 series Diagonal - Radio for contemporaries . He has received several international awards for his features, including the most prestigious radio award, the Prix Italia, for his soundtrack broadcast "In the soul there is a need not to think - the double life of Raymond Carver" (2002).
