In the summer of 1976 Currie moved to Leeds within Yorkshire for £ 250,000 and played his first game for the Whites in a 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion . In his second and third seasons, Currie helped each to reach the League Cup semi-finals and in 1978/79 also in fifth place in the league, which Leeds qualified for the UEFA Cup .

Although he also rose to the public's favorite in Leeds, he left the club in 1979 after some disagreement with coach Jimmy Adamson and 102 games (11 goals).

Currie only went to Canada for two months, playing for the Toronto Nationals , before moving back to England to play for Southend United.
