Tony Dawe

Tony Dawe (* 1940 ) is a British sound engineer .

Life

Dawe began his career in the late 1950s as a sound engineer at Abbey Road Studios . In 1967 he started working for British television; in the same year he worked on his first feature film, Half a Sixpence by director George Sidney . In addition to numerous feature films, he also worked on the popular crime series Die Füchse between 1969 and 1978 . In 1983 he worked as a sound engineer at George Lucas ' Return of the Jedi with, for this he received in 1984 his first Oscar nomination in the category Best Sound and the first nomination for the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Sound . By 1990, Dawe had been nominated for a total of four Academy Awards: 1988 for The Empire of the Sun , 1989 for Wrong Game with Roger Rabbit and 1990 for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade . He was also nominated four times for the BAFTA Film Award, in addition to The Return of the Jedi for The Empire of the Sun , Batman and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade . He was only able to win the BAFTA Film Award 1989 for The Empire of the Sun from this. Dawe was twice nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work in television productions . He was also nominated four times for the BAFTA TV Award . In 1992 he received the award for the television series Inspector Morse .
