Anthony "Tony" Grimshaw (born December 8, 1957 in Manchester ) is a former English football player .

Career

Grimshaw joined Manchester United during his school days in 1972 , in mid-1974 he signed a contract as an apprentice (German trainee), but rose to a professional in December 1974. At the beginning of the 1975/76 season , United had only just been promoted to the First Division again , he was still playing in the third team, in September 1975 he came on for the first time in a 2-1 victory in the League Cup against Brentford FC the first team to use, a month later he made his debut in a 2-1 away win against Leeds United in the league. In February 1976 Grimshaw broke his leg in a reserve game against Aston Villa , fell out of the injury for the next two seasons and subsequently failed to regain his form. After a month on loan in October 1978 with Irish club Ballymena United , he finally left United in the summer of 1979.

He continued his career at AFC Mossley in the Northern Premier League , for the club he played a total of 22 season games in the 1979/80 season, in the league he was successful in scoring four times when winning the championship. In November 1979 he took part in the first round match in the FA Cup against York City (final score 2: 5), in the final of the FA Trophy at London's Wembley Stadium , which was lost 1: 2 to Dagenham FC , however, he did not come to Commitment.

After his footballing career, he became a policeman with the Greater Manchester Police .
