Tony Pringle

Anthony "Tony" Pringle (born December 12, 1936 in Liverpool ; † May 4, 2018 in Massachusetts ) was a British- American jazz musician ( cornet , trumpet , vocals , arrangement ) from Dixieland .

Pringle grew up in Wales; He gained his first musical experience from 1957 in the Druiden Jazz Band , with whom he performed in Liverpool clubs such as the Cavern Club . In 1959 he emigrated to the United States and founded the (New) Black Eagle Jazz Band, which he directed for many years. In the field of jazz he was involved in 124 recording sessions between 1971 and 2011, also with Brian Ogilvie , Claude Hopkins , Cornelius "Pam" Pameijer as well as with the Albion Jazz Band and with Prince Charles & The City Beat Band. Stylistically he is influenced by King Oliver , George Mitchell , Red Allen , Kid Howard and Mutt Carey . Pringle, who worked full-time in the computer industry, died in 2018 of complications from heart surgery.
