Brian Ogilvie
Brian Ogilvie (born March 20, 1954 in Vancouver , British Columbia , † August 14, 2004 in Scotland ) was a Canadian jazz musician ( clarinet , saxophone ) and composer who was active in Canada and the United States in the field of traditional jazz .
Live and act
Ogilvie played in the Magnolia Brass Band in Toronto in 1987; In 1988 he directed the Ogilvie Brothers Jazztet , which included his brother Don Ogilvie (guitar) and Neil Swainson on bass. In 1989 he was awarded the National Canada Council of the Arts. 1992–95 he was a member of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band in the USA . During this time he appeared with Cullum on the radio show Riverwalk Jazz , to which he contributed compositions. He then moved to New Orleans and performed at various jazz festivals until his death. He died in August 2004 after performing in Inverness . In the field of jazz he was involved in 59 recording sessions between 1975 and 2003, including a. also with Bob Wilber , Joe Ascione , Dan Barrett , Ralph Sutton and Digby Fairweather .
