Torches is the debut album by the American band Foster the People . It reached number 8 on the Billboard 200 .

To the formation

All of the pieces on the album were written by Mark Foster. Only with Life on the Nickel additionally worked producer Paul Epworth , with Miss You Zach Heiligman. Before the album was released, the first single Pumped Up Kicks was released .

reception

The album scored 69 out of 100 possible points out of 20 reviews on Metacritic .com. Allmusic gave it three out of five stars and described it as "catchy, electro-lite dance-pop that fits nicely next to such contemporaries as MGMT and Phoenix ". Rolling Stone magazine gave it 3.5 out of five stars and wrote: "Their debut is genre-juggling, bedroom-dance-floor magic cut with moody-boy lyrics". The album was nominated for a Grammy in 2012 for Best Alternative Music Album . Pumped Up Kicks was nominated for the "Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance".
